COBOL Developer
Majesco provides global enterprise level software solutions to the financial services industry. Majesco is currently looking for qualified individuals to join our team as a COBOL programmer/developer. In addition to COBOL, Majesco uses a number of various programming languages and technologies. Qualified applicants should be able to quickly learn new concepts and software as necessary and demonstrate during the interviewing process their proficiency with the technologies below. Experience working in teams developing enterprise commercial grade transactional software systems is required.
Job Overview
Support and update existing internal applications and servicesCollaborate with Project Managers, Business and Technical Analysts, Developers, QA and other IT team members to understand business and technical requirements that drive the analysis, design and creation go quality technical solutionsTranslate business requirements into technical solutionsDesign, develop, test and debug enterprise software solutionsCommunicate development status and escalate issues to managementDevelop documentation and participate in code reviewsCreate documentation for training (i.e. user manuals, technical manuals)
Key Role And Responsibilities
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology/Systems, related fields or equivalent experienceInsurance industry experience a plus, but not required3+ years of experience in software design and development of enterprise applications with strong fundamental knowledge of the SDLC5+ years of experience with COBOL and SQL ServerExcellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills, especially in regards to code analysisIdeal candidates must be self-motivated and have an aptitude for problem solvingExcellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to learn new technologies quicklyMust be able to work equally well in a team as well as individually
What Majesco Offers:
Majesco is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $118,000.
Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Majesco considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, candidate’s work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
